Aircraft Maintenance Base

Ulyanovsk

Polet's aircraft AN-124-100Aircraft Maintenance Base was established and developed in connection with use of AN-124-100 Ruslan aircrafts. In 1994 Polet Airlines purchased their first AN-124-100. In order to operate this unique aircraft making flights world wide, the company often needed to work together with its manufacturer Aviastar-SP, aircraft factory in Ulyanovsk. Thus, Ulyanovsk-Vostochny airport was selected to be the base for this aircraft and another AN-124-100 that was purchased in 1996. By this time the airport started international operations and developed the required facilities for Ruslan aircrafts maintenance, and neighborhood with manufacturer provided the prompt repair and modifications. Before year 2000, the company could perform only line maintenance of its AN-124-100, and heavy maintenance was effected at certified Maintenance Center of Aviastar-SP located at Ulyanovsk-Vostochny Airport.

New stage of company's development started in 2000, when the number of AN-124-100 owned by Polet Airlines increased. Polet Airlines operated four Ruslans and was planning the further fleet expansion. Economic analysis made by the company brought the decision to establish its own maintenance base for the regular maintenance.

Administrative and production building. Polet Airlines Aircraft Maintenance Base at Ulyanovsk-Vostochny Airport At that time the company had an office in Ulyanovsk, but maintenance base was built "from the green field". Selection of personnel was always one of the company's priorities, thus, the main resource of the base from the start was a motivated team of high qualified specialists. At the beginning the maintenance facilities consisted of four trailers at leased parking place that included a repair shop, tool storage and engineering personnel facilities. Most of maintenance equipment items were leased from Aviastar-SP maintenance centre. There were 42 people working at the base, and its certificate allowed to perform one of the minimum check forms, F-1.

The company continued to develop the base focusing on heavier maintenance forms -- new personnel was invited and new equipment purchased. Polet Airlines arranged a laboratory for avionics repair, bought the filter washes, GPA, heaters, hydraulics inspection equipment and other machines. As a result of these works, in 2004 the aircraft maintenance base became a holder of certificate for all types of AN-124-100 regular maintenance in accordance with Maintenance Schedule of 1995.

In 2004 Polet Airlines acquired several parking places at Ulyanovsk-Vostochny airport and started building its administrative and production facilities.

In 2009 new task was assigned to maintenance team: starting the program of operation on IL-96-400T aircrafts manufactured by Voronezh Aircraft Factory and leased from Ilyushin Finance Co. The team did a great job on this program - making changes in corresponding regulative documents and restructuring the maintenance base. The company obtained the required operational and maintenance documentation, provided the training of engineers and technicians to receive the certificates necessary for operation and maintenance works on IL-96-400T, acquired the equipment necessary for line and regular maintenance according to forms F-1 and F-2.
