For the first operating month Il-96-400T "Vyacheslav Salikov" performed 4 circles with an overall length of 101369 km, spent 136 flight hours and transported 687908 tons of packaged cargo.
Vyacheslav Salikov was a perfect organizer.
Since his school years, his mates admitted his leadership and followed his outlook, noting him as a good talker. Though, he accepted other ideas, yet, he could express his own opinion without effort.
He started his career at VASO as an aircraft maintenance fitter. In a few years he changed his title from a foreman to a factory party secretary. In 1986 he was assigned as Senior Engineer and from June 1998 to September 2005 as VASO General Director.
Mr. Salikov was a true workaholic, never shifting his responsibilities to the others. During factory's hard times, there were a lot of people, who believed that the manufacture would close, because many experienced specialists had given up their jobs and the young generation of technicians refused to work there.
However, Mr. Salikov always told that the factory would function only if there was a financial support. "Even if everyone is gone, I myself engage personnel and teach how to work because I know aircraft manufacturing inside out, I will return to the factory its previous power"- he said once. And no one ever doubted.
On July 17, 2008 Vyacheslav Salikov died with his wife Lyudmila in a car accident. Mrs. Salikova also worked at VASO as an Engineer.
Good memories about this noted person will rest in our hearts forever. His beloved factory, which Mr. Salikov devoted his life to and believed into its revival, has started its motion ahead. The name of Vyacheslav Salikov is written on the board of the first out of 3 manufactured at VASO Il-96-400T aircraft.
