Еstablished in 1988, the Polet Airlines has developed into a company known worldwide. It specializes in carrying extra-heavy and large-sized cargo by "Ruslan" An-124-100 AL aircraft. Working in this freight transportation segment for over 10 years, the company has acquired a circle of permanent clients who have been cooperating with it for quite some time now. In excess of 1,000 organizations and companies representing all corners of the globe and the most various sectors of the economy are constant clients of the Polet airlines.
In terms of the cargo transportation volume on international and domestic routes, Polet invariably ranks among the top ten Russian airlines.
Since 1999, Polet has been the general carrier of the Federal Space Agency transporting rocket and space equipment in the interests of Russia's space program.
The airlines combines its active business on the Russian market of unique cargo transportation with a considerable amount of assistance to the UN, the governments of Great Britain, Germany, Canada, France, and Japan and also fills orders of Western companies known worldwide, such as Lockheed Martin, Boeing, General Electric, Mitsubishi, Toyota, Honda, Yamaha and others.
The company's aircraft deliver humanitarian aid, space and industrial equipment, unique wheeled and track-type machinery, oil and gas equipment and other types of freight of up to 120 tons.
The unique size of the cargo compartment (length: 36.5 meters, height: 4.4 meters, width: 6.4 meters, cargo bulk: 1,160 cubic meters) makes it possible to stow goods of different package types, including containers. The plane's cargo compartment holds twelve 20-foot and six 40-foot containers.
Promptness, top efficiency, safety, and a high Level of servicing the clients - all this enables the company to stably operate in different regions of the world.
The company has been actively working on the Japanese market over the Last eight years handling most various transportation types: humanitarian aid, peacekeeping troops, space equipment, components for car manufacturers, food supplies and much more. The geographic distribution of cargo destinations is fairly wide: Afghanistan, the U.S., Russia, Mexico, and France. When working with Polet, the Japanese clients appreciate the timely solution of all organizational matters, the promptness and quality of handling operations, cleanliness of the aircraft and much more. On the whole, the airlines' positions in Japan are fairly strong. Upon completion of yet another humanitarian aid shipment, the Interior Ministry reiterated in its letter of thanks its high assessment of the airlines' performance.
The Polet airlines is steadily developing as it implements new projects and increases the size of its aircraft fleet. In 2004, the airlines purchased two planes of the "Ruslan" An-124-100 AL series. Currently, the fleet comprising this type of aircraft includes eight units.
The airlines' high performance has been repeatedly recognized in both Russia and abroad. Polet has been a prizewinner in different nominations of the national aviation "Wings of Russia" competition.
In recognition of its great contribution to developing business, remarkable performance and high professionalism, the international organization Business Initiative Directions awarded the airlines The International Gold Star for Quality. For the unique transportation of the U.S. reconnaissance EP-3 plane from China to the United States the European Institute of Transport Management (Great Britain) conferred an award on the airlines. Polet is the only Russian air carrier whose scope of business goes beyond the aviation sector and covers the space sector. Along with the leading Russian and Ukrainian enterprises: GRTs (State Rocket Center) "Academician V.P. Makeyev Design Bureau", GNP RKTs "TsSKB-Progress" ("Progress Central Specialized Design Bureau"), O.K. Antonov ANTK (Aviation Scientific and Technical Complex), Polet is involved in developing the "Air Launch" aerospace complex designed for space purposes where the An-124-100 AL carrier plane is a recoverable and reusable first stage of a space vehicle orbital injection system.
